Well after turning the plenum chamber the right way up(see previous post) on the replacement engine I bought I have just noticed the carb has the throttle cable on the other side compared to the engine I have taken out? there is no pipe on the front by the manifold either which the other one has. does this mean its a n/a carb? I am beginning to think I may have bought an ebay special lol.
I was thinking of swapping the turbo and carb off the engine I have just taken out as they are supposedly new/recons which haven't been run. I have no reason to doubt this as there is a 'turbos direct' badge on the turbo and a date of December 2012 and the car has been off the road since november. Anyone heard of this company? The only thing that worries me is the fact that there looks like a bit of oil in the bottom of the air intake side of the turbo? The vanes on the turbo look new and I can't feel any noticeable play in the shaft plus it spins ok. The other engine (with the new turbo and carb) was pulled due to it misfiring and smoking when warm and the fact the blocks an early a series and not a+ and I think it was low on compression.

Patina=old and knackered and won't clean up

I think turbos direct were up near Carl Austins place, either his exit or one or two south of him...
