This has been discussed many many times on TM. All you need to know can be found with a search

I seriously doubt it!

Get an Avonbar Phase 2. Was fantastic in the upside down skip.

Not sure a cam will be much use to you in the ocean though. *wink*

We ran ours with 1.27 pressed steel rockers. Good for over 200 bananas.

Any cam that needs a high CompRatio to function in NA mode would not be good, as you are going to lower the CR for the turbo most of the time. So you'd get a very anaemic off boost performance.

as for the 266 (free as you have one)

It is (very) near a MG metro cam but it has about the same lift as that cam with 1.5 rockers. So i'd just keep it and use 1.25 rockers with it.

just my 2 cts.

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

Well most of the time it will be on the road and putting people in there place but I be on the track as much as I can and yes your right sir yun it will be free but id rarther spend money and get it right so I dont have to strip the engine again been looking on some graphs and the best choice I can work out would be kent 276 would this be better than the 266 cam?

Why do you reckon the 276 is better than the 266 ?

It is very hard to compare camshafts just by looking at the numbers to be honest

you can have a cam that is 100% identical on paper that is totally different in actual lift profile (the 276 was apparently just a numerical mid way point between the 266 and 286 and not really developed like the other two )

just to illustrate . same numbers two different profiles. difference is that one of the cams has 30 degrees of dwell

My limited experience (NA) with the 276 was tepid at best.

Thats true and I suggest it as the 286 would be good but the power band starts from 1500 to I think 6500 but the 276 has it from 1000 to 6500 but I dont think the 266 has not enough lift
as like people say the love and hate phase 2 cam the 276 has similar quality but would better suit my needs

The 286 will be utter shit. Stick with what is proven to work, forget everything you know about what works well on N/A because this doesn't apply to boosted engines for cam selection. Sw5, Mg metro, 266, avonbarphase 2. Take your pick from those, those are the most used cams on here for a reason!

I'd easily take the one with the least jerk.
Goes without saying really...

Dear lord what ever you do do not fit a 286!I made the catastrophic mistake of fitting one just because I had it and it made me utterly hate the car. I have the n/a MG cam fitted now and the car drives divinely on the road and gave me what I needed to see of a Mk6 Golf gti in MK! That can't be a bad thing.

Own the day

dont forget the MED T3 cam is essentially the same

avonbar are now shut, but the cams are being produced by the original owner under the name AVR Classics

but once again he's proving hard to get hold of so give him a call or even better collect and pay in person to ensure you get one!
orrrr
