Hi all!
I'm Chris i live in Swadlincote south derbs I've just bought an 89 mini 1380 turbo.
I've always wanted a mini, friends always had them but I never had my own. I used to build remote control cars doing mad things like putting a mini shell on a monster truck so I guess it would be inevitable I would end up with a monster mini!
My car was bought as a second car/project I wanted one I could tinker with and add some personal touches to. I don't know much about the engine as I didn't get any receipts or anything with the car. Apparently it has omega pistons uprated cam, valves, rockers etc!? I was told its running a T2 garrett turbo. I've established it has a 1275 electronic dizzy but I'm planning on installing an aldon amethyst box. The engine really is a big ? But I know it's v quick and only done about 2500 miles. It was dyno'd without the turbo at 95 bhp! She is sitting on spax coilovers stopping with AP racing 4 pots and 8.5 inch discs. Internally bucket seats and a full roll cage. It's finished in tartan red with a black roof and black sportspack arches over 13" ultra light deep dish wheels. I'm planning to keep it looking pretty standard a kind of mk1 cooper replica chrome etc. I have a few jobs to do for the mot; cv boots, tie rod bushes, some welding and generally putting right some odd bits. Nothing major though. I then plan to take the engine out and paint the bay and tidy it all up a bit. Ill keep you posted!
