Just stripped my engine i bought no engine number on it and i am trying to identify weather the block and pistons are genuine turbo.
The pistons look deep dished but have no numbers stamped on the tops I have a photo but for some reason cant post any on this site.

Do I need to have so many posts before I can add attachments I can browse and add attachment but it doesn't view on post

My pictures haven't worked of late. Upload them on photo bucket then link them. Worked for me

BHP sells engines, but Torque wins races!

no such thing as a turbo block, only to the extent that turbo pistons were fitted from new, turbo pistons will have a hefty dish in the top

Correct there is no such thing as a turbo block but the original turbo build engines had a "T" stamped on the head upper surface left hand side and on the block around the water pump area. The exhaust valve stems are different diameter's as well.

after further stripping found it had a kc500 cam in it would this of been normal for a 1275 turbo as from reading about cam its more suited for a 998 do I use this cam or change it
Im trying to get about 140bhp

No that is a kent cams reprofiled to the n/a mg1275 spec, it is a good cam very useable i have had one in my turbo engine and it makes a good amount of torqe low down

It is considderd quite a good turbo cam and would certainly be in the list of upgrades from the standard turbo cam, useable for 140 easy my engine was almost 100 more than this

centre strap is not really needed imo, however hi have one and so do many other because whats £45 for that piece of mind lol
the diff 100%, you want a minispares 4 pin diff, the standard one struggles with standard power i say minispares quite specifically because i dont know of a single failure and for the money you cannot argue ( also most of TM is or has used one)
