Is it possible to place a later front subframe(single bolt) in to an older (estate) body?
Also is the rear sub from a estate the same as say a mpi subframe (on the minor detail left behind)

Grts

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...

Rear subframe will bolt straight in. Front subframe, anything is possible but its much easier to get the correct frame for the car if you can.

if by 'later' you mean 1992 onwards or 'SPi' then yes, they fit in any shell that originally took a single bolt tower subframe. The main difference with those subframes is that the engine mount bolt holes are ~10mm further forward and the front stretcher bar is the same as those used on the automatic frames, which is 'dog legged' rather than straight.

The rear subframe will fit all shells of any age

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

That said, I have seen twin bolt tower shells modified to take the single bolt subframe.

One way is to replace the cross member. Not too bad if you are doing a lot of bodywork.

Ah well... i have the original subframe but i also have a powder coated one laying around. .. thought if i could just use that one instead of having the original 2bolt coated... but think it will be easier to strip it and have that one done. Glad the rear will fit though as it is the only one i have... tThanks for the replys!

You cannot mix 1 and 2bolt frames/ shells. In practice. The bulkhead crossmember will HAVE TO be replaced.

The 2 bold go's to the sandblastman next week. . Where can i get a top bolt set for these frame's? I have another one driving around with a 2bold but only having one bold on each side...
