Don't even know if that's a word.

Was Running 998 low boost 6 psi using a bleed valve on a metro actuator, rebuilt the turbo due to white smoke and now the boost gauge jumps from 10 psi to 20psi like in a second. Any reason why it would do this and how a standard metro actuator can even get to 20 psi?

Thanks

have you put the boost hose back onto the actuator?

Just had a browse round the hoses and only thing I found was on the bleed valve the hose was slightly off, pushed back on and all fine. Was it actually boosting to 20 psi or was it getting an in accurate reading?

If the hose from the bleed valve areas the cause, then yes, you've been putting 20psi through it.

This pipe operates the actuator. Without it, it will boost till its heart is content.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

you cant get phantom positive boosts lol the pipe off on the bleed valve is as good as unplumbing the actuator

Back in the day "the boyz" always took the hose off the actuator on the Metro turbo and ran uncontrolled boost - for a little while, anyway.

When my hose split I thought Christmas had come early !

Glad I sorted that but was fun.I must have been driving like it for a few days. Any one ran one till it exploded? If so how long would it last?

That's exactly what I would expect.

It's a stock 998 running about 8.5:1 compression been boosting at 20+psi for several days...and bodgins has been giving it the beans everytime as well.....can someone explain how nothing has failed internally yet? seems like a miracle.

Maybe he's stepped in dog shit. 8.5:1 is pretty low though, and if it's rich then it wouldn't really be a huge issue imo.

He must have! Was running at 29psi at one point today, and no sign of trouble.

29psi is serious ball swinging territory and we all know what its like after you get kicked in the balls,

29psi will break something, although no doubt your winding the turbo up so far its making nothing but heat, heat = dett food *wink*
