Ive finally got round to fixing my mini, one of the jobs I had to do was replace the damaged fuel tank (be careful how fast you go round corners with bricks in your boot),,,,,,

Anyway I didnt bother to weld a return in I fitted a y piece inbetween the tank and the pump to return to.

Its fine for normal driving, the regulator raises the pressure up and down as it should. However if you really give it some on a motorway for example the engine seems to die off.

It takes some time for it to happen and if you come off boost - slow it down a bit everything returns to normal...

Fuel starvation from the standard fuel output on the tank???

What do u think? ? (I hate brazing grrr)

Sounds similar to the problem i had with mine!!! What fuel filter(s) and fuel line sizes are you using?? Also does the pump sound strange (gurgling)??

i had that problem and it is the reverse to what you think, when you come on boost the needle valve in the carb started to leak causing shed load of fuel to go into the carb causing the engine to die.

best way to check is to use a t piece with the load gauge on the fuel line into the carb then remove the dashpot, then crank up the fuel pressure on the regulator to say 10 -12 psi and watch the main jet, if it is pissing out fuel then theres your problem, a new needle jet is requiered or a tweek with the float settings.

im not saying this is your problem but i had this prob for ages untill TD told me to check it.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Its not an "on boost" problem as such - the engine accelarates and cruises at boost fine. however after a few mins flat out such as on a motorway the engine will start to stutter and die.... Ease off and its back to normal - i assume fuel starvation.

Im going to have to get some more brazing rods...... As i said before I hate brazing Grrr

Cheers for the input guys.
