Quick Q for the techies....
Ive got a car in at the mo thats got that awful split diagonal brake set up. The master cylinder had gone so I'm looking at it as a good opportunity to convert it to the more common split front/rear system.
Apart from the obvious different master cylinder (GMC227 and requiring a FAM7821 compensator valve, can anyone confirm if the original wheel cylinders would need changing too?
Its running drum brakes all round (1978/T reg).
Thanks

Go on, be brave, put it in the car and tell us how it works.
Pity your bollocks are in line with the flywheel!

on the diagonal brake cars i had run larger diameter rear wheel cylinders and when i converted to split front-back i used that opportunity to fit fresh

i'm not a fan of the bulkhead mounted compensator i'd run the early type rear subframe mounted ones

Ditch the FAM valve. Fit SMALL rear cylinders if running discs up front.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.
