I had my car set up on the rollers on Saturday and it wouldn't give more than 7psi boost with the bleed valve all the way out.

I have seen various posts on here that says the standard actuator is between 4.5 and 5.5 psi. I think the actuator is set with about 2-4mm of preload.
If I adjust this will it give more and what sort of preload gives what sort of boost pressures?

Thanks

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

There is no such thing as 'insignificant weight saving', it all adds up.

my gt17 actuator gave about 4psi but i could bleed this up to 15 easy
can you measure the strength of the spring? i measured a few a while back iirc its about 1kg draw weight = 1psi boost
( weights are in my build thread somewhere)

Excuse my ignorance but how do you test the draw weight?

stock ( old weak) GT17 - 7.6kg to move it 8.3kg at the end of its travel
stock GT17 - 8.5kg to move, 9.2kg full travel
stock GT20 - 18.5kg to move 22kg full travel

you need some sort of scales that can hook on to the actuator rod ( luggage scales) hold one end and pull the other :)

i only say this because i suspect a weak actuator i had one^^ 4mm pre load is alot and would turn a 4psi actuator into 8 at least i would have thought

Saab tech documentation states ~0.5mm pre load. IE you need to pull the rod another 0.5mm to get it to hook onto the wastegate arm.

This should get you in the region of a standard 4psi wastegate operating pressure.

Make sure you have the bleed valve connected correctly.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
