i've had a set of s/c drops sitting in the garage for a couple of years, so i decided today to investigate wether they are suitable for a turbo engine..took apart an old spare engine to try them on. ““A turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.”” - Jeremy Clarkson

It could be that you have a set of roller bearing drops suitable for A series rather than A plus? (that I assumed you tried them in an A Plus?) As one of the changes from A to A Plus was the size of the idler gear bearing.

as i was expecting, the idler don't fit.. i tapped the bearing out from the gearbox casing and the idler shaft is way too small..

I used a slide hammer and an appropriately sized washer to get mine out. Worked ok, but was a bit crude.
