Hi sorry if this has been asked a million times. I was wondering what the components that I will need for my fuel system?
I'm building a supercharged engine ( blow through) I have seen people run external fuel pumps but my personal opinion is that they make the boot look untidy.

So I would prefer a tank with an internal pump. What are my options? And what else will I need to get. I'm hoping to get a look at a few cars at mitp and get a better idea on how it is done as well as buy lots of parts that I'm going to need.

Thanks

Clive

Get an MPi tank with pump. Then you will need suitable supply and return lines for the fuel plus a regulator.

Cheers for that what regulator do you recommend I use. Also is there a difference between dpi and mpi tanks?

SPi won't flow enough fuel for big boost, but you may get away with it with a charger.

The metro turbo regulator should to the job.

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

Lake District

You need a pump which will provide at least 4psi more pressure than the boost you plan to run.
The SPI will give about 15psi, the MPI about 45psi.

Sorry to hijack, I've got an spi setup which isn't giving enough fuel. Could I keep the spi setup and use it to feed an external facet pump in the boot, like a lift pump? This way I wouldn't have to swap out the tank for a non injection one and modify for the return.

easiest thing is to swap the pump, you can use a generic in tank one, something like ford fiesta ect.

Why put it in the boot? I use the metro turbo set-up with the pump in a carrier that is in turn rubber mounted to my subframe. very neat and tidy, but importantly out of the way.

Doesn't have to be in the boot, where it's mounted is irrelevant. My question is can it be fed from the spi pump to save me completely changing my current setup?

Joe, I've bought a facet red top pump now, so ideally want to use that. Thanks though.

How come? It might not be red top actually, it's the one for 200hp plus.

its the pressure you need not the flow.

red tops make about 6psi IIRC.

Oh no :(
Just looked on the website, 6 - 8 psi.
Sure my friend used to use one on a s/ charged 1380 at 130hp

ah but his would have been suck through? in which case the carb dose not see boost so only ever needs 3 psi fuel pressure.

Yeah it was suck through, wondered why his regulator had to be turned right down :/

Aah another set back :(.
How would I know if another fuel pump is going to provide enough pressure?

I've got a saab 900 turbo I'm breaking for parts at the moment, surely that would be sufficient, as it currently supplies a 2.0 turbo 185hp engine??

that will work, external pump I assume though? in which case you'll need a tank with a take off at the bottom to feed into the pump.

No it's an internal. Hopefully a straight swop for the spi then?

Depends on the year,

if its an earlier one it'll look like this and wont fit

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saab-900-93-98-P...=item2ec977612c

if its a later one it'll look like this, and you'll be able to graft it on in place of the SPI pump

Mpi pump, honda pumps etc all fit inside the internal tank carrier. I have an spi tank with mpi pump sat waiting to go in my car. Easy job.

What size fuel lines should I run. Also do most run copper underneath the car then flexi fuel lines in the engine bay?

Bollox! The factory injection lines where 6mm i.d. and they happily ran 3.5bar of fuel pressure...

I have 6mm i.d. lines on my car and it runs 3.5bar no bother.
