Hi Guys,

I had an issue the other day where I worked out the carb float valve was stuck shut not allowing fuel in so car wouldn't start

basically I wanted to know what normally would make this stick shut?

reason I ask so I can prevent it happening again if possible

Also when I took the cover off the bottom of the carb for the float chamber I noticed when refitting it that it was a little bowed on each side so it didn't give a flush fitting when I screwed it back on ....is that normal?

Cheers
Dan

being sat for a while does it, fuel out the float bowl evaporates but the additives in the fuel dont seem to so a golden looking varnish type stuff gets left behind and it sets hard

there maybe other reasons too
what i used to do was switch off my fuel pump and let the engine idle to run the fuel off, made hot stars easy aswell

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

The cover is not square, make sure it's not been forced on the wrong way round.
