Afternoon all, after finding my coilovers while clearing around the garage it got me thinking that the brackets look just to heavy and there must be a load of weight that could be saved and space saved as well (will come onto that bit later).

Anyways I drew this up quickly this morning as an idea of where the brackets could possibly be lightened and for it to still keep its strength (I am no expert on this I honestly just geussed on this). I have but down all the dimension of what I thought could be done (I know the circles are not round, this is due to going over the lines again and rushing).

My later idea was to compleatly do away with the standard coilover brackets and create a weld on "custom jobbie" ala paul w, as most of the original coilovers have an angle like this / away from the body would it not be more efficient to make brackets and possibly make a recess so they face towards the car like so ?

Any info and help would be brilliant, thank you.

That cardboard will be a right bastard to weld to the steel work. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher handy!!

why not just cut out all of the material between the bolt holes?

Think differently and youll come up with a steel bracket weighing half of aluminium Protech brackets that gives better geometry and still bolts on

I seriously doubt it!

I dont mind if its welded on not bolted tbh.

I dont like the style of the protech brackets for top or bottom, I was thinking of a small top bracket which is sort of like )-( that shape if it makes sence? I will draw some up over the next few days when I get chance.

What do yours look like paul?
