Hi in was wounding if it was possible to 1380 a mg metro turbo engine , if so what would I need to change to withstand the added power ? Obviously I would need to bore the block and get new pistons ( 73.5) And also would it be possible to un-turbo the engine , the reason for this is that I just passed my test and I can't effort the turbo but I can effort the 1380 insurance , thanks jake

Remove turbo, bore, add pistons, check compression ratio, skim head if needed, remove carb and fit n/a hif44 and reset fuel pressure to 4psi or just remove it all and fit a normal n/a pump. In a nutshell. But 1380 is nothing alone, you need a decent cam and head. Just going from 1275 to 1380 wont really make all that much difference alone.

So there no point me boring my standard metro turbo engine to 1380 , only if I change cam , crank etc.. ,if I went down the road of boring , will I need to change much on the standard engine if I do what do I need , thanks

Wouldn't bother at your age tbh
Insurance would be ridiculous
I paid 1.5k for a 998 and that was cheap!
Rack up some no claims bonus on a 998
Plenty quick and fun

Go on, be brave, put it in the car and tell us how it works.
Pity your bollocks are in line with the flywheel!

Take it to 1293, stick an sw5 in and something like a big valve mg metro head.
It'll make probably 10-15 hp shy of the metty turbo anyway and that will be enough to quench your thrills for a bit.

If your young, you can get plenty of power from an 998 by fitting a decent stage 1 kit, granted bigger engines will get there quicker, but 1 998 can still reach and cruise at 70 and is probably alot more reliable
