I just sold my last spare too. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

I doubt this is your problem. I think it's just where the drilling for the stud.
In the 13's at last!.. Just |

As per oneeye, that's just where a normally blind threaded hole has broken through slightly (all castings vary in thickness).

Ok thanks guys. I've nipped the downpipe clamp and manifold nut, all went up a little. There is signs of a small leak from the centre exhaust port under the inlet manifold. When nipping the nuts one of the crappy brass nut thread stripped :(. Think it might be an idea to buy a new manifold gasket and a couple of spare nuts tomorrow at mitp. You can see in the pic the bottom part of the inlet manifold looks black / carboned up also On 25th Sep, 2009 mini13 said:

Just thought I'd say I've had a metro manifold that had a hole in the same place

Is the manifold face flat? Speeding is like masturbating, everyone does it, but not all of us film it and put it on the internet

That "hole" is not the cause of the problem.

But you do have at least one broken stud where the w/g section bolts to the turbine housing. Well spotted Stevie - that could easily cause a leak between the turbine and wastegate housings and hence the carbon on the block below the centre exhaust port. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

A mate sells longer manifold studs and double length brass nuts if you think it may help. Own the day
