Before we start stripping the TT, we thought I'd have a go at starting it.

So I removed the piece of wood which had damaged the clutch cover and was jamming the engine. Checked all the connections amd made sure there were no fuel leaks and hey presto, it started first time.

Below is a video of a later run-up when I had it in gear to check if that was all ok.

So, this engine will come straight out and be put straight back in the new shell when it's ready.

That footage was taken last night, so you can see how much I have done.

Will be getting new shell soon, but i'm in no rush. We're planning for it to be ready February time.

I think that the 'banging sound' is just to do with the car being in gear, the SC drops are really noisy.

It sounded much sweeter when I had it out of gear.
