Right i'm offshore bored and im thinking about my cylinder head and compression ratio, I've searched on here but theres so much info my heads pickled.
I have a 1293 block with 13cc pistons, I dont know what head gasket to get? so I dont know the dimentions to work out C/R. Can you by these in different thickeses, which is best? and I have a standard turbo head. What cc is a standard turbo head?

I know im gibbering a bit here but I am needing some direction please, Im after a C/R of 8.5-1 as thats what alot on here are running, and im not sure where to start.

Thanks

Baz

As you don't have a head yet, you may as well get the correct cc in the head and use a bk450 gasket.

I don't have a calculator in front of me, but as a rough guide, you'll need around 26cc in the head.

From that I calculate that you have a CR of 9.1 (I use 2.8cc for the BK450 head gasket, which is the best to use).

so you need about 3cc to get down to your target.

You should be able to find this in the head and pistons.

You can also look at Cometic head gaskets as these come in several thicknesses.

Why? If he hasn't had the head done yet it will be a single outlay to get the CR he's after, rather than spending a fortune every time he needs to change a gasket.

Ummmm....

The OP hasn't stated whether the pistons are flush or not. Without knowing the deck height, all these CR calculations are a bit of a guess.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

I'm getting time on the car this weekend if I'm not called to work. So I think I will get a bit of glass and check the cc's in the piston/bore. What do you guys use to check this? Water? Diesel? Does it matter?
