Now i have finally found a mini that suits my needs. It took me almost 5 years of searching *happy*. Now i am going to build my first mini turbo. I would appreciate any advice i can get how to get this working.
First of all i will try to list my set up and some initial questions .

The set up i have at the moment is:
The car is a Leyland 1000 -79
I have 998cc 99H889AJH engine in the car that runs and i bought a 1098cc GRB TA H from a mg 1100 -67 that the seller said worked.
I have a kkk03 turbocharger

Question 1
Which engine should i build on or can i use parts from both? Like pistons from the 998 in the 1098?
Question 2 I thought of blowing thou the dual su that is on the 1098 engine. Can i do this without modifying them?
Question 3 How have you done with your manifold/downpipe? I thought of trying to place the turbo on the leftside over the gearbox.

Excuse me for the bad English.

Thanx in advance!
Flodin from sweden.

1. No. The parts are different. You can swap the crank Ross and pistons, not just the pistons as I believe they are different heights.

2. No. They will not work. You could possibly modify then, but I don't think any has tried this with HS carbs. Much easier to get a turbo HIF44 or modify an NA HIF44.

3. Over the clutch works fine. Have a search for 'remote turbo' to see what's been done.

Both the engines you list have been turbocharged in the past, both with good effect. Just choose the better of the two. The 1100, will possibly make more power for the same boost due to the extra capacity and long stoke.

Thank you very much! Should i enlarge the head to get lower cr or can i modify the pistons? What cr do you think i should have? 8.0-8.5?
How is it with the gearbox? Is it any differenc in the two? I think the one on the 1098 should be better?
Clutch?
Copper head gasket?
Opps alot of questions but i want to do it right from the begining *smiley*

The best thing to do to start with, is to have a trawl through the 'Show Us Yours' section, at other people's build threads. There will be people who have done what you're wanting to do, if not at least something similar, that you can have a look at :)

But C.R depends on what boost you want to run, which will depend on what pistons you have, which will depend on how much money you want to throw at it.

I'm pretty sure the gearboxes are the same, but its always worth stripping them down, also that way you'll be able to use parts from each box to get one very good box.

Again, the clutch will depend on how much power you're looking to make.

There is a very very good small bore head gasket sold by minispares, This one:

That I was reccomended.

I am aiming at about 100hp as a first goal. As it seems now i will fit a megasquirt to control the fuel and ign, i have 352cc injectors, vag coils, intercooler, kkk03 turbo but i need to find some good pistons to fit the 1098 engine but i canīt find any. Tips? hows about the standard con rods? Do they hold together with lets say a 15psi boost?

Hi Flodin,
Welcome to TM.

Have a look at this website; it's a very good start:
http://www.turbo-mini.com/index2.html

There is also a section "20 hour 998 Turbo" which might be of particular interest to you.

Dazed and Confused....
