Hey, returning member number #180 as I cannot remember my password.
Well I've since gone to the dark side and I'm building a 16v rover k series estate but I'm needing some weight saving advise so have come back to the experts on the matter. It's not a quick build and has took a fair few years already and is still a fair way off as its currently in two halfs and I've just got the front half back from the blasters.

The car when purchased


When sorting the engine bay out turned out to be a bigger job than expected, i started to find cardboard,filler,silocon,gaffer tape repair panels held on with just the door hinge bolts etc.

So i got drastic


The plan is to use the bulkhead and floor from a cooper shell I had sitting in garage. I've a new floor extension peice, healboard, outer sills lower rear quarters the only none original join will be on the front pillers but I'll be using the inner piller skin from one car and the outer two from the other with a big overlap, All seams will be re spot welded.

It's what I want though and that's what matters =) plus at least it's still a rover engine

true and i do like the conversions my self also always wanted a van too but i dont think id ever do one

If Rover had there way bet the 1.1 8valve K series would ended up in the mini anyways

They built a wider bodied factory prototype to try the k series engine in a mini.
