just bought a '72 mini fitted with a mg turbo
the engine is sick (smokes bad) and im going to carry out a full restoration.
I would like some surgestions on what mods i can to to the engine :cool:

Welcome to the forum mate, ur smokeness could either be worn rings or a goosed turbo..

if you are lookin at rebuilding, bore it out to 1293 and drop a decent set of pistons in ...

It all depends what you want to spend and how much power you want.

Thanks i have been looking around and you are right there is so much info on this site... its great

what i would like is about 130 bhp ish and drivable on normal roads but enough to pi$$ off the normal gti boy racers (and the wife would like to do the same)

what i have gleaned from looking around is the following - please correct me if i am wrong

rebuild box properly
straight cut drop gears
twin pin diff
duplex timing gears
mild cam
1293 bore with good pistons (no idea which please help)
stage 2 head (again no idea which one)
intercooler
9psi actuator
moded carb (i think it already has this i will need to check)
bleed valve (to lower boost for normal driving)

i already have a super 2 core rad and a 13 cor oil cooler but i have read that the oil cooler needs a thermostat

any help is much apreciated
