Sent some parts off for zinc plating at the start of the week, picked them up today so can carry on building the subframes up. Looked into buying a kit to do it myself but the full box was only 30 quid so didn't seem worth bothering.

Whilst waiting for the plating I have fitted the new loom, not quite finished yet but will bolt more things in the engine bay first just to make sure everything fits

Dash vinyl is finished, what an absolute bastard of a job! Ripped the first wrinkled mess off and started again, luckily I had enough material.

Fitted the heater vents and wasn't happy with how the screws sat on the top part, were sitting too high and didn't look good so I countersunk them so they are flush

After

Thanks jonny. For now its just having a little 998 na. Getting married next year so funds won't allow a turbo engine just yet. Hopefully will have all the bits bought by the end of next year so can take it off the road over winter

Managed to squeeze a couple of hours at the workshop today so i fitted the headlining. Cleaned it up last week but it was still looking scruffy with all the glue stains

so I decided to paint it, this was half way through

Cleaned up the interior light as well. Had gone yellow and a bit crusty

All fitted

Still chipping away at all the little jobs so not had much to update really. Subframe and engine is nearly finished and ready to fit, just got to fit the radiator then I will lower the shell over the whole assembly.

Fitted the bootlid the other day

Also treated myself to a lifeline quick release steering boss to try and help it not get nicked

Got the column machined so it slips on the end

Test fitted before I weld it up

Cheers lads.

Spent the past week or so rebuilding the quarter windows. They were very rough to begin with the hinges and rear catch bracket rusted through

I stripped a few sets to try and get enough hinges to be rechromed but they were all pretty bad so I decided to have a go at making new ones, an old fire extinguisher donated a piece of stainless.

Original chrome ones on the left, new stainless on the right, not 100% exact but once fitted its hard to tell. The stainless was slightly thicker gauge so i made them a bit narrower so they flex enough to open the window

Polished the frames up and fixed them back in place with brass rivets

Made new joints out of stainless as well with a cut down spire nut fixed in place so I could screw them back together

Tried putting them back together with the rubber supplied by minispares but it was too thick so I used an inner tube

And finished! Dont want to think about how many hours went into them

Looks a nice job.

Those kind of bits always take the most time.
