is it really needed? a decent set of four pots up front, the right pads, drums with quality shoes on the back, all in good condition and adjusted properly serves most well |

I would like to see a light weight pair of drum back plates. Pretty much everything else hanging from my rear subframe is ALU, so short of turning all the fins of the drums I can't see many other places to loose more weight. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

No, nobody has done what you are saying therefore nobody knows exactly what will be needed.
I seriously doubt it! |

A well set up/thought out rear drum brake set up is more than adequate and in some cases can lock up before the fronts. So other than weight loss, there is no real benefit to a rear disk set up unless you have gone for some exotic custom rear suspension. |

I spied a post on another forum in the last day or so from a guy in the states who has done gis own rea disc conversion with vw parts. The idea would need to be developed a bit more though |

I would think based on the kad unitsva decent bikecaliper setup would work well |

If you are going to do rear calipers you are much better using proper rear calipers so that they include a handbrake. Using fiesta calipers is just a daft idea. Which is probably the reason why nobody has done it. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

There's a couple guys over here in S.A. that have done 4 way disks using the golf2/3 setup which allows for the use of the handbrake on the rear. Personally I'd say it's a fair bit overkill for a mini. KAD or Force are the best for the job and aesthetics. Life is always a matter of opinion and quite frankly, no ones opinion really matters. |

a pair of motor bike calipers would be a good swap and light think fiesta brakes would be pointless you spend more time trying to get it to work propily than going with a kit thats been tried and tested |

I made the mistake of fitting rear discs and wilwood calipers on my Toyota 16v powered mk1. First track day ended up swapping ends a few times. Eventually using an adjustable bias adjuster to reduce the braking force at the rear the car became more manageable under braking. This is the only picture I can find of the conversion

If you look at few of the race cars (bill richards iirc is one) at one point did not run any back brakes, simply have massive brakes at the front |

Willwood do a caliper that has a handbrake on, much better as a starting point.
