yes, i'm planning to take a good look at his threads ASAP!

IAT is combined with the boost sensor and sits in the plenum

If you're only running for short periods of time, have you considered a charge cooler? You should be able to get away with a smaller, thinner heat exchanger radiator than that compaired to the equivilent intercooler. The heat capacity of water might be better with your higher engine bay temperatures?

the scuttle is a high pressure area , i did a test.... its on here somewhere with bits of string and driving along .

wont cost anything to make a big hole in the front for the water rad ,and run a pipe to the front for the turbo ?

the trouble with running a pipe to the front is the MC's are right in the way and only give about 2 inch gap to do anything with...

Definitely positive pressure at the scuttle. That link is telling you air will enter the engine bay from there not exit it which is exactly what you need for what is being suggested... maybe not for 'downforce' tho!

Id re-jig the whole lot and get a big IC in there but col air feed from the scuttle is perfect.

The cylinders are pretty much slap bang in the centre of where any pipe would go unless its got a crazy bend on it almost straight away. I had hoped it would be behind the MC's when i made the manifold but couldnt quite get it all to fit to accommodate that.

Hadnt thought about being that radical, i might look into that actually. I'm not a big fan of the pedal setup though and ive missed the brake pedal on occasion, so i might just cut my losses and get something like this:

i like the sound of that. Anyone know if it can be done? Seem to remember they are pretty integrated with each other, but will definitely take a look at whether thats in anyway possible.

I used the compact remote reservoir master cylinders for both clutch and brake and did away with the dual master cylinder, but they create other issues not instantaniously obvious. I figured that the single circuit was as good as the dual circuit since all the braking is on the front, so if you loose your front brakes (or a wheel in Jim's case *evil* ), you're pretty much on youf own anyway *happy*

Where is that MC setup from? Does it retain the original pedal box and pedals?

I also had a thought, is it possible to rotate the MC's 180 so more of the reservoirs are at the front and might just create enough clearance behind....

slight update.

Have bought one of the darkside intercoolers. 230 x 600 x 65 so a fair bit bigger than the previous one! Didnt realise it would be so heavy, its over 5kgs!


have mocked up the placement in order to buy pipework and bends etc and looks like it should all work quite nicely. Going to change the fan from a blower on the front to a sucker on the back i think too.



Have also been thinking about cold air box and filter for the inlet, but still work to do here with the plastic MC being way too big.




Finally, it all looks like it might fit under the front wthout too much faffing about which is nice *smiley*.



Maybe one day the fundamental mechanicals will be done and i'll be able to spend some time painting and tidying up the car and garage!!

that IC will make a difference! it reminds me of a saying my dad had...

is that inlet to the turbo a bit small? or just perspective, somthing I have seen is a "bowl" on the end of the turbo to act as a plenum into it for tight spaces.

Dunno, no idea what is deemed too small. Its 2" pipe and its either going to have pipework down to the front or i'll make a box behind the MC's and battery and get some cold air from the scuttle

thats prob 10mm or so bigger than the inducer joe ,should be fine ....

looking at it, looks as if another blue silicone bend on the end if the first one would bring it round that reservoir?

Is there any reason that the brake master can't be rotated 180deg? Could be a cheap way to gain some space back there.

That would put the reservoir out of the way. Although, getting at all of the pins from the footwell is a horrible job.

The brake MC isnt actually in the way, its the clutch. but yeah, faffing about with the pins is one of the main reasons i havent gone down that route as yet! it probably goes down as the worst job on the car!!!!
