Check your getting fuel and a spark. Does the ecu read cranking rpm?.

Three simple things to check before pulling the head

better make that 4 simple things to check.....

Is your trigger wheel secure!!!! Ignition timing was being set by the loose trigger wheel of fortune *frown*
Its not been touched in at least 4 years and it decided to work its way loose on a power run making the most BHP its ever seen. Coincidence? i hope so!

Unfortunately only discovered this just now, after the head, turbo, manifold, plenum, throttle bodies have been taken off and put back to inspect the perfectly formed gasket...

Still, just time and effort lost, and not anything broken or expensive!

Back to the RR, crank the boost and lets see what she can do!!!!

I had the trigger wheel retard about 30 degrees. It still appeared tight, but checking it's position highlighted the problem. I binned it off and loctited a trigger ring to the OD of the pulley. Never had a problem since

Bloody good job they retard when they come loose lol

Noticed tonight that my n75 valve was ticking away like mad on idle. Never noticed it before. Is this normal!?

this is exactly how I want to do my 8k manifold ,and should be a really good way to find the bhp limit of the gt17, its somewhere between 230 and 280 bhp ,but you might be the one to define it for sure .nice job *wink*

Medusa + injection = too much torque for the dyno ..https://youtu.be/qg5o0_tJxYM

This would depend on the specific settings of the device controlling it. On mine, the ECU has a setting for 'boost valve off below this pressure'. I set this to 110kpa.

I think the Specialist components ECU has something similar

this is the target boost base map, (i'm running much lower boost than this just now):

This is the duty cycle of the valve:

I dont really understand why its operating at idle based on these two tables, i also dont understand why the table only goes to 6500rpm.

Was back at the rollers today but had major problems with the car wheel spinning on the rollers due to the slicks overheating. Also, when we tried to up the boost, it doesnt seem as if the N75 is bleeding properly and the wastegate is dropping things back off. *frown* *frown* *frown* *frown*
Dialing in 0.7 or 0.8 bar, it seems to climb up initially, but drops back off

Yes! It overheated and blew multiple expensive headgaskets every 5mins (litteraly) so I got fed up with lack of reliability and put it away for the season.

Have made some progress over winter and got it dry decked. Will find out in a few weeks time if that has solved my problems.

If it has then it will go back to rr and hopefully have a successful season. If it doesn't work then ill probably be breaking it for spares!!!

Will do a proper update in a few weeks

Twin Cam Turbo Build In Progress Rothwell, Northants

Great Thread :)

Could I ask if the plenum that your using fits directly to the BMW K throttle bodys and if so did you make it yourself or buy it? I need to get hold of one or make one myself

I tend to try and build rather than buy, so the majority of things on the car are made from crap that is lying around the garage. The plenum is very much a diy effort and has held up so far... yes, it uses the original throttle bodies as I had them already

Cheers Pal, I'll draw something up and have a crack at it myself then. Have you got anymore pics of it?
