I've been some Denso W22EPR-U plugs in the mini for some time without any issues.

Upon investigating a lumpy idle, I found no1 had done this...



It seems the ceramic portion has come loose and now freely moves along the electrode.

This was after some ferocious action getting the car into the 13's.

Do I need to go hotter?

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Sorry, yes the other way.

I blame NGK and Champion with their opposite scales do my confusion.

So, do you think I need to go cooler?

yes drop 2 grades cooler IMO by the colour of it golden green colour ........... tiss truly a classic of hard acceleration

also recheck ignition timing and AFR

This plug is the equivalent of an NGK 7.

Should I try an 8 or go straight for a 9?

I'd be amazed if you'd need more than 7's, especially as you use it on the road, it would just end up fouling them up.

As Colin says, what do the other 3 look like?

The other 3 are fine. Black around the circumference and brown towards the electrode with no signs of falling apart.
