Spec? Do you mean optional extras? Vickys has everything, mine doesnt have quite as much but both are lush

I seriously doubt it!

What goodies have you got on them then? The only thing I'd
Like on mine that it doesn't have is heated seats.

Being half leather Im not too worried about heated seats but the Mondeo was full leather - that needs heated seats in winter which I really liked

I seriously doubt it!

Does anyone have any experience of the 535d?

Something I have been looking into lately, seems to be a great piece of kit..

I averaged about 43 mixed driving motorway and into Manchester, and 47 if it was all motorway. That was the 163 engine, manual.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

This is my 535d touring.

It's an awesome piece of kit, lots of power from more or less idle speed, then at 3k rpm the big turbo fully takes over and it rockets round to a full 5k rpm which is unusual for a Diesel engine.
Mine is the pre face lift so 272bhp, the post facelift cars got 286bhp.
They only come with an auto box but to be honest with the massive torque on tap this suits the car well, its no handicap even pressing on.
On a gentle motorway run it will do between 35 and 40mpg, not in the league of the 2 litre cars granted, but it does have over 100bhp more go under your right foot. I was planning to use it for towing with, the estate has air self levelling rear suspension so would be ideal, however whilst getting ready to put a hook on it we've bought a 3.2 diesel Shogun which is obviously ideal for towing duties, so I haven't put a hook on the BMW yet, it seems a bit too nice really to do that to it!
Running costs wise, it doesn't seem too bad yet, I've serviced it and parts were comparable to the Audis I've had, oil was expensive as it needs over 9 litres of the stuff, rear pads were reasonable enough too. The only thing to watch for are tyres, mine is on 19" wheels, they look the bollocks but a pair of rears 275/30/19 were knocking on the door of £500 for Continentals.

I know, I'm part way there, I've got the proper CAN BUS wiring loom for it, plus I've got the proper BMW lower rear bumper section which has a detachable "hatch" in it so you can remove the towbar and then clip the hatch back in so its virtually invisible, and have had it painted the matching colour.
Only things stopping me are, £200 for a decent detachable towbar, I've got a 3.2 diesel Shogun that already has a towbar and can do the same job.

I'm sure Kev (minirotty) bought a 5 series estate and has had no end of problems with it, if he spots this thread he will probably comment, but I think it's behaving itself now!
