I got a supercools 2 core rad and never had any problems.

If you havn't got a removable or flip front its easier to remove than a 4 core.

Mini spares appear to do 3 different versions of their super 2 core rad. One basic, one with a drain plug and one with a built in heat sensor. Which of the three would be better - ie is there any advantage to either the draon or the sensor?

Best to keep to the basic (no drain or sensor) unless you need an extra sensor for an electric fan, less joins that could later become leaks!*frown*
