Im in the process of getting my engine together and it looks like my thrusts need changing (too thin). Does anyone know what the thickness of standard thrusts are? The sizes on the minispares site seems to just say "std + X" and not give an actual dimension.

Cheers
Matt

Cheers carl. i currently have two sets 2.24mm and 2.34mm, the thinner set looks like it has been surface ground to size. I've measured the main bearing and that's 26.04mm and the crank journal is 31.69mm so currently it's leaving me with a 1.01mm gap. To get the crank so the bearing is slap bang in the middle of the journal it looks like I need 0.7mm or so one side obviously less on the other.

So if the 2.34mm bearing is standard size it should be all good! I was just a bit worried that it may be an oversize one, and one thick enough wasn't available.

I would say 0.030 per side as from memory they are quite a bit thicker than standard when you see them

I thougt it was total, pretty sure youi can use half a set to get 15 thou.

If its 30 a side that's ideal, gives me plenty to play with to get a good central position. Total of 30 would still be ok but minimum end float would be about 4 thou.

I've read various threads on endfloat, it seems the general opinion is that 6thou is good for a revy motor, to allow for a bit of flex in the crank at high rpm?

the engine im building had a 7 thou end float on used std thrust washers. was just going to replace them with new std ones but as per the engine thats in the mini now i'll probably end up with very little end float *surprised*

can tandard ones be machined to give the required float.

sorry for the hi-jack matty

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve

Yes Lee,

simply surface grind down to size, or lap on a flat oil stone
