I can't seem to find a set of +30 A+ 1275 main bearings anywhere. Minispares sell the pre A plus version but not A+. Is it just a case of having to use pre A + bearings and file in new location tab grooves?

Cheers
Matt

If this is for the 16v T i'd avoid the grooved bottom bearing.

Not sure on availability, but i can have a word with my man. He'll look in his books and phone the supplier there and then. I'm dropping in tomorrow anyway

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I've given up searching for the plain/groove variety in -.030 If you find a supplier I would be interested too.

Yep it's for the 16v engine. Seems odd +30 is available for all other bearings?

WhAt do you see the disadvantage being with the grooved bottom bearing? The only disadvantage I can see is less surface area to spread the load on, but then with the extra groove surely you're getting more oil around the bearing and better flow to the big ends?

I've contacted the bearing supplier we use at work, if they can't get one it looks like I may have to resort to the A bearings. *oh well*

Word on the street is that the +0.030" plain/groove bearings don't exist. None of the manufacturers stock them, AE, Glyco, ACL. They do however supply, so I am led to believe, +0.040"

IIRC when I was looking for +40's I could have got +60's, not sure I would have wanted to run a crank machined that much

Well if 40's give one more stab at the crank and come in the correct size then good. I may have found a source too now!

Found a source of +30s?

I had no luck at all from a reliable source. I'm considering measuring them up and seeing if I can get some from another car that may be size for size.

Sorry +40's. If they are of interest I can ask if they are definitely the correct variety.
