can people have a butchers at this video and picture i have done. i cant seem to sort the sudden loss of power. it happens in every gear at around 3.3k and as it comes on boost and backfires. i have tried various things but just can seem to sort it.

its gonna be my wedding car in feb so really really need to sort it out soon. hope its something trivial.

thanks in advance

Could be ignition , mixture or a combination of both.

Boost can blow out weak sparks, so easiest thing to start out with is making sure you have new plugs with correct gaps and check whether your ignition system is producing healthy sparks (caps/rotor/coil - edis/coil pack/trigger signal).

Next step is ignition timing and fueling. Check fueling with wide band lambda, either fitted to your car or hung up your exhaust at the rolling road. Timing can also be checked on the rolling road using a strobe when running a dizzy, mapped ignition enables you to hook up a laptop either on the road or rollers and see what's going on (map sensor/tps signal vs. Actual throttle position, ecu revs vs. Actual revs etc..

Best book a session at your local rollers?

I would hazard a guess and say weak fuel mixture, and due to running wasted spark (by the looks of the coil pack) its igniting the fuel on the exhaust stroke.

If you're running mj, have you got a rev limiter set to 3.3k?

Can you do a drawing of how the fuel/boost pipes are connected as it looks a bit strange in the photo.

Has it just started playing up or done it since build?

right. yeah its running a wasted spark ignition. a canems ecu and the ford coil pack. the plugs have been changed twice and im running ngk 7's. the leads are new too. as for the ignition i have changed map numbers and quadruple checked the rev limiter is turned off.

a few people previous have mentioned fuel so i have replaced all fuel with shell nitro+ and blown out the lines. pressure is set at 4psi it has the 't piece trick' done and just to make sure its not that i reversed it by blocking the pipe off, but still it chopped power and backfired.

i have checked for air leaks and for any holes in hoses. all good
here is an adaptation of ben's brilliant diagram of how i have mine plumbed in (hope he doesnt mind!)

the dashpot oil is ok as is the gaps on the plugs.

the only thing i cant check is what the fuel pressure is doing when it goes as thats under the bonnet and i cant see it whilst driving

cheers

put a guage on the fuel pressure and temporarily put it in the car or under the wiper and see what happens. sounds very much like a lack of fuel pressure .

you could just try closing the plugs up to 20 thou first .

Interesting. You have put aT piece in the regulator sense line and by the looks of it plumed it into the float chamber vent valve fitting. If you are having a fueling issue illuminate the usual suspects. Lose the part throttle lean of pipe. This was the bane of my existence for a while. It's a cheap fix.

If the pipe has a pin hole it can cause fueling issues so he block the two outlets.

I have never come across a T in that position before. So I can't honestly say if that could be an issue, probably not.
