Hi I'm just about to order some pistons for my engine that I'm building. Just want to get your opinions on these and if there the right ones.

I have a turbo phil head with 26cc chambers and was going to buy these pistons
http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/catalogue...ast-pistons-040
I can't afford forged pistons unfortunately. Will these give me a low enough compression to run a blow threw supercharged setup?and am I correct that these are the next size up from 1293?

Thanks

They did me well I was running alot of boost on those (+20s ) make sure you order the correct cc dish for your settup ( id guess at 10cc ?)

Lots more factors to consider here. Deck height, gasket thickness, boost levels (and efficiency of your charger at this boost)

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Advice I was given was stick to about 8-10psi run a bk450 head gasket with 10cc dish should be about 8.5.1. Does that sound about right ( think that's what they said )

Also going to get arp bolt sets for the caps and head nearly £200 for the bolts though :/

Do tenors bolts. Don't bother with the main caps.

The pistons will do the job. Just use a Compression ratio calculator to make sure you get the deck height so you get you desired compression.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

At a glance 8.5cr does not look right with 26cc chambers unless you run massive deck height

Mine was 8.2 ish with 0.5mm deck hight and 28cc in chambers

1 this sounds intresting... do you send these to evereone? *wink*

2 i am also building a blow trough charger set up running 10 psi but wil keep pressure at 9psi... should be safe i guess

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

Based on a 1293cc

Bore 71.2 mm
Stroke 81.2 mm
Head Chamber Volume 26.00 cc
Compression Ratio 8.64 :1
Gasket Volume 3.80 cc
Ring land Volume 0.5 cc
Deck Volume 2 cc
Swept Volume 323.30 cc
Total Chamber Volume 365.62 cc
Chamber - Piston Volume 32.30 cc
Chamber + Piston Volume 42.32 cc
Required Piston Volume 10.02 cc

for a 8.5:1 ratio you would need a deck height of 2.8cc

i'll send you the excel sheet clive.

the excel sheet is set up, for my spec.
this will be the same as yours if you are going for 1293 (+20) the only varible will be the deck height.

larger the bore, higher the compression ratio. I think in vizards book hi has an approximate guide for each bore size, how many cc equate to real time deck height. though you will need to measure your deck height, as there may be variations from factory, or the block may have been skimmed before...
