Right here goes, this is all purely thought at the minute to gauge current interest etc with no definates. I know that its been tried before but hey, why not try again.

Basically im wanting to see what my cars running before it gets rebuilt so i thought i may aswell try and organise a bit of a group meet at the same time.

The plan is to have it at Mike Barratt Engineering (if he's willing!). He's well known in the mini world and if nothing else he workshop is a very interesting look round, i know he has several injection setups which i hope if planned he would be willing to show us so this hopefully makes it more than just a rolling road day.

The location is Lincoln which is fairly central up and down the country and not too far from places like manchester, (about a 2hr easyish drive), london's not too much further either (north side)

Located just 10ish miles off the A1 and fairly close to the M1 so not that hard to find.

Dates are unconfirmed and open to suggestions but i was thinking of maybe easter sort of time when the days are lighter and longer. May be able to sort out some places to kip aswell and park a few minis if anybody wants to make it and overnight thing. Only 20mins from the rolling road along some nice country roads! Free aswell if you fancy chipping in for the beer and fry up!!!

Not sure if he is willing to do a sunday or not or whether it will be a saturday but if i know peoples preferences then i can take that into account.

Once ive got a good idea ill get a date and price (bearing in mind he wanted ?45 to set up my engine on the rolling road im sure a power run wouldnt be that much). Then to make sure we can get definates id collect a ?10 deposit with the rest payable on the day.

What does everybody think?? Obviously ill try get some mags involved but if not there will be a good write up on TM with comparative stats. It would be interesting as then cars can be compared as they're on the same rollers so the battle can begin!

Doubt very much that mine will be around at that time, but i'll be there. If it's a go-er, i will get it in MiniMag no Problem.

Somet to consider; minis vs Beetles is at York Raceway (not a million miles from there) on Easter Monday....

I'll be there, but obviously only as a spectator..

Will try and get some stickers to hand out too!

Can for me mate, ill contact MBE of the next few days and see if he would be up for it.

Not sure how many we would need to make it viable but im guessing between 10 and 20.

Can also supply tent space for the brave if you want? There's loads of b&b's though.

Here is the crack however - You MUST get at least 8 cars there ON THE DAY for a mag to be interested.

Messers are not welcome. 4 months notice is ample time to buy/build an engine, there is simply no excuse to say yes and change to a no with a few weeks to go...

PROVIDED the turbo is in and running will give me a good chance to get it set up properly.

I agree dave, thats why im going to be taking a deposit to give to the RR because its not fair on them expecting loads of cars and only getting a few. Im hoping we can get 8 cars even if there is a few N/A cars. Turbos get priority though if it comes to limited numbers although all cars are welcome.

id probably be up for that mateys but i would suggest paying more of a deposit or even all of the cost on booking to make sure people turn up

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Ill find out the full cost and some potential dates asap.

Sounds as though we should be able to get the full 8 minimum quota although the more the merrier.

You need to do somet like have it on the Good Friday Saturday, or the Tuesday following Easter monday... If you do then all together you have more chance of making this happen, believe me...

The first one i did was (the friday) just before Castle Combe, which worked out great as everyone was going it anyway... Minis vs Beetles will be a good event to link it to (which is on the Monday)...

Lincoln to elvington is 72miles so that is a possiblility of having it good friday.

Depends on the rolling road guys though especially as its a bank holiday, easter sunday would be spot on but cant see that coming off!

Hmm ill have a look to see other localish events aswell around that time. Or if not any suggestions for another rolling road with an event close by?

Easter sunday is the Elvington trackday that a few minis are going to, me and jim are aiming for it Mark is as well I believe! So don't do it then.

Otherwise count me in :)

ok then, it can be the saturday before elvington
Then we have Elvington on the Sunday
Minis vs Beetles (about 10 miles from Elvington) on the Monday
or it can be the tuesday after minis vs beetles....

Put it to a vote, or better still, keep both days free!

sunday or friday is good but who knows of a RR thats going to open up on a bank holiday for us lot ????
but then again 10+ cars paying 40/50 quid cash can be a good incentive !!!!!!!!!
