I'm looking to replace the Pirelli Dayco belt on my Minispares belt drive kit. It appears that Minispares switched to an unbranded 'Made in China' version at some point in time*frown* that I realy do not intend to rely upon!

The Dayco belt is marked 052R190 , which in universal/imperial timing belt speak is non existant. It indeed has 52 teeth, is 19mm wide and has an L type pitch (3/8). Translating this into 'imperial belt speak' gives 195L075 .

Although available in the US, my local (Dutch) Gates dealer can not suply this belt. I will try the local Dayco representative on Monday....maybe someone on here has looked into this before and can give me some advice??

Obviously I'm looking for the strongest, most resistant belt. Minimania in the US supply a Kevlar version that seems ideal, I prefer ordering locally however to stay away from delays in customs as well as stupid charges on anything coming from the US these days*angry*

Again, anyone on here looked into this before? Any advice is highly welcome!

Some nob head purchased the rights to the Dayco belts about 7-8 years ago and were only available through him. I dont have his details anymore and dont know if he still sells them but that is why MS changed to the Chinese belt.
There are other beltdrive kits on the market which use the same size belt so worth seeing what belt they use

I seriously doubt it!

Is the belt the same size as the small vvc drive belt? If so loads of options there

I know MED are about to release a belt drive system soon but not sure who's belt or where its coming from.
Give them a call they may have something to suit (Maybe)

the VVC belt is a bit longer and has a much bigger tooth profile, and is wider.

Thanks for all the pointers!

As far as I can make out on the photos the SHengineering kit seems to feature a Dayco Isoran belt, nice company to deal with when I ordered their water pump plate so I'll check with them whether they can supply spare belts and whether it is in fact the right belt.

Interesting news about MED, I did see their gear driven cam drive kit. (different discussion, in the US V8 scene some swear by them, others hate the noise AND its supposed inability to cope with crank harmonics).

I found out on the Australian forum that MS switched back to supplying Dayco belts at the beginning of this year (a guy on there ordered two in March which were indeed properly delivered). The MS website now actually states Dayco belt.....which has been out of stock for at least the last two months:(

On the same forum there was also mention of the MiniMania kevlar racing belt, this apparantly is made by Gates Japan....I can find no further reference of it in any Gates catalogue so is probably supplied through an exclusive channel.

Ah well, Mini's....never a dull moment*wink*
