hi

after the repair i did on the scuttle i set about getting the bubbling paint from the scuttle only to find out it was full of filler and was completely rotten and full of fibreglass bodge, so whilst i have the scuttle of i was thinking about the miglia type bulkhead box, has anyone got any pictures of there whilst in the making of one?

cheers

heres the rot and filler

I'm also interested in how to do this! My bulkhead is a mess so I just want a shallow one.

Making it out of steel will be easier to fix to the rest of the shell.

I had a car fall mot for having a riveted bulkhead box instead of welded due to it being a fire wall. I have no idea what the big blue Book says. But that depends on if this creation is for the road.

Cheers, http://www.motcheck.org.uk/mot-check.html in here it says that there is not meant to be any excessive rust and no sharp edges to the body shell, doesn't say anything about fire walls but I might go and ask my local mot guy what he thinks

Dont bother asking him, if he doesnt know its riveted then he cant fail it. Aslong as the rest of the car is in good condition you wont substantially weaken the shell.
Use solid copper rivets and countersink them on both sides making them completely invisble

I seriously doubt it!

cheers paul was thinking this, will have a weld in cage and a bar across the front anyway so should still be strong
