Oh bugger. I'm running a jacknight straight cut box.
I'm guessing I'm not going to be able to get bits for it easily 😣

ah, dog tooth then,

tbh, there are another dozen or so in there, i would be tempted to run it as theres not a lot of swarf on the plug.

its an obsolete gear kit so I'd go shit or bust!

it's not a dog box joe so could be a syncro tooth I guess. Gearboxes are a bit of a puzzle to me at the moment.

Yea Si. I've taken engines out plenty of times over the years. But I think this engine has come out the most in such short time! 😂
At least non of the fixings will ever rust I guess!

any crunchy gear changes? its pretty unsual for a dog tooth to go really, If thats what it is I would say its an isolated incedent,

mybe worth getting hold of one of those cheap bendy camera's that plugs into a phone and havu=ing a look throgh the dizzy hole?

It goes into gear smoothly, but I did have problems at first with 2nd gear. I've got a internal gear linkage and was getting all gears but 2nd on my first outing this year. Kept popping out of 2nd and just not going in. But like I say after I adjusted it correctly it's been fine.

I'm taking it all out and apart as I need to check the piston after destroying the head gasket!! 😂
I've also got an unknown oil leak from somewhere. So that needs sorting as well.

Are they any good mate? As I have seen them before but for that price they could be worth a punt

they are not to bad, certainly for the price they are worth having, the main issue is they dont focus really really close
I'll stick a screen shot or vid up from mine tonight.

hopfuly these should be pics from the camera,

cool that worked, 1st and 3rd pic are about 1.5 " away from the coin, the middle one is about 10-15mm starts getting a bit fuzzy about then, as said theres a box in the cable with a wheel for the light which is handy.

cheap and cheerful, but actually dead usefull.

I'm confused.
You found a 20 pence piece and some red shag in your gearbox? I imagine that would cause a problem for sure...

LOL sorry they were just to give simon an idea of the camera quality,

I'd happily pull the dizzy buttplug and stick it down there, but all your gonna see is the windage tray....

Well I've fitted the extra 2 head studs....

Very pleased with how it went!!

I've also found that the timing chain had become very loose! Very odd as it was good when I fitted it. So I'm going to fit a duplex one I have spare on the shelf.
I've also discovered why I had a bad oil leak! Basically all the engine to gearbox bolts had come loose!! So when I refit it, I'm going to use wellseal instead of hylomar on the gasket, and plenty of loctite on the bolts!!!

When I time the cam in, should I do it 108 degrees or 106 degrees to allow fir stretch? It's a old avonbar phase 2 cam.

Regards,
Josh

Good progress Josh.
As soon as it's running again get it straight on the rollers or you will tempted to go and turn the boost up which could end up with another blown gasket and more carnage mate. You have put alot of good work into your car. I like it.

Oh yea it's fine. No damage to the rings.
Just a bit of a scuff mark right at the top. Think I got away with it.....this time! 😂

I would of been more concerned over the ring lands rather than the rings, the issues I experienced was either hair line cracks within the thin band of material between ring or it breaking away from the piston in the most extreme case.

I had a proper look at it with a mechanic mate and all seemed fine.
