I know what your saying but it would of been in there for 1000 miles and not hit anything.

Maybe it was in there the whole time. Scary really as it could of been so much worse!

Anyway looks like I'm going to have to learn to rebuild a box!
Any hints and tips welcome! 😂

Also what do you guys prefer out of the sump plugs? The gold one which is really strong or one of the extended ones? I've got both on the shelf but have been using the gold one recently.

Cheers

Extended ones can foul the oil pickup iirc,

Not much to fear rebuilding a mini box. You need a big 150ftlb torque wrench to tighten the nuts up. Helps if you bolt the box down to something sturdy.

Ok I've almost stripped both my boxes down to rebuild my sc box into the spare casing. Just waiting for my new set of circlip pliers to arrive to remove the main shaft.

Now I've found this...

Not sure if you can see but where my screwdriver is pointing there's 2 teeth missing which I kind of new about from a oil change the other year.
Anyway what part is it? And would I be able to replace it when I have it removed? Bearing in mind it's a jacknight gear set.

Cheers

Lowestoft, Suffolk.

The tooth chipped is one of the first gear synchro Drive dogs, it’s what engages / gives Drive with the first / sencond syncro hub when in 1st gear.
To replace it would be a new/replacement first gear.
Attached image is the gear out of the box.

I see. I'll just use it as it is then.
Unless I find a jacknight first gear which I doubt I will.

Lowestoft, Suffolk.

With the Jack Knight gearsets , do they have their specific own first gear or do they utilise a standard first like the minispares clubman kits?

If you had no engagement issues with first just use it as is.

Think it's a complete different gear as it's longer than standard.
It engages fine to be honest.
I bought it never used second hand already built about 11 years ago! Lol I'll use it till it's completely knackered. Then buy a different gear set that's got spares available.

Well, got it all back together on Sunday. Was a long day but worth it lol.
Stripped spare case and got it soda blasted...

Etched primered

Putting the gears in...

Got it all built up and back in the mini..

I've got a boss welded onto the intercooler pipe to take a inlet temperature gauge aswel.

Hopefully it'll stay in the mini longer than a month and I'll get it to some meets/shows, rolling road and maybe even a trackday!

Well I've been getting some miles on her finally! Woop woop!

Went to retro show at santa pod the other weekend.

Joined the 1/4mile mini lot as they had some spare spaces.

Got some black and silver plates...

I've just been enjoying driving her about to be honest. Going to book Stuart Gurr in for a rolling road tune up. Can't wait! 😁

Don't like the black and white plates. The car isn't old enough.

Do like it otherwise. Have you got the front bumper "under" riders, I reckon that would finish off the front nicely.

Well I could only get 10psi which is odd as I've got 20psi before briefly when testing bleed valve.

The bigger issue is it's breathing heavily.

It still made 140bhp and 122ftlbs torque. Didn't think that was too bad at 10psi.
