In terms of weight saving... do i need to kerp the whole rear seat? Or would it nred bracing that weights more than the rear seat itselve? ( metal back plate)

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...

Rich took his out, but I think you end up putting in more bracing than the original weight was, or you could have an ally one made up?

Remove the seat back and you loose torsional ridgidity in the shell. Something needs to be put back in.

Unless your putting a weld in cage tied to the top of the shock mounts I'd leave it in. The back of mine with no cage in was worrying especially with no boot floor!!

Maybe some cleverly (randomly) placed holes would be an idea if your looking to lose a little weight but keep some rejidity.

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve

MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Owkey... leaving it in than.
Put far to much money and effort in it to have it like it is now so don't want to fuck it up. How light can you get an all steel shell?

very light, I can lift mine with one hand (just the shell) it has still got more to come out but a roll cage to go in at some point.

Think outside of the box *wink*

Just removing the sound deadening and factory underseal from the later shells gets you half way to the weight of a rollcage *wink* I'll not be chopping my shell about just for a few grams, just up the boost a bit more lol

I do want to keep it strong. (Been in a uk mini oncewith a fibfibreglass nose... tought it would fly off any second. ) beside that... i walk the outer outer line of what is legal here... so need to think about that one to... underseal is gone and also removed that hard stuff inside the car. Seen allot of cool stuff on here. Especially with the crossbeam... ( underneath the seats) but sometimes have my doubts if that's still good for a road going car...

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

I cut and swaged some holes in the vertical seat support.

I reckon you could do that in the seat over hang. You would not save that much weight, but it would stiffen the panel up a litte.

Seat overhang is gone allong with the bins...

Mudt say that holes look cool. Seen some here who seriously drilled their sub frames. .. can it cope with the holes? No one ever had them bend up? ( never seen someone do it over here...) here they place alloy doorknobs and a quick shift and thinck thats about as light as it gets. .. ( that already would cause some trouble with the mot to of course)

I went with an alloy bulkhead and parcel shelf, saved a few kilos but it is just as strong with the ribs and bracing I've put in

As said if your not going with a full roll cage I wouldn't mess with the bulkheads
