I'm looking for a new LCD/LED tv for the back room in the house. probably 32" or there abouts. although I'll have an HD box it doesn't need to be the greatest in the world as it will mostly be subjected to Peppa Pig, singing kettle, Disney channel etc!

On a bit of a budget; anyone got any recommendations or units to avoid?

cheers

Rob

Have a look at the Technika ones in Tesco. Nice and cheap and use a lot of Samsung parts. Should be ideal for what you will be using it for.

The turbo build has finally started

Swansea boyo!

I can't believe how cheap TV's are now, I paid about £450 for my 32" LG HD one about 2 years ago now you can get an alright one for half the price. Probs a good time of year to get a new TV too because all this Christmas deals will be out. I'd get an LG one again based on this one :)

They don't die, they just get faster!

IMO Samsung, for reliability and quality! You will pay a shade more but worth it.

I used to repair TVs for a living, and Samsung would send us boxes of spares without us even requesting them because we repaired that many of them. Read that as you will.
On the plus side, the spares are available, and they sell gazillions of them which probable means the return rate is still a low percentage.
For a budget TV, any branded unit will do the job. There are 'better' units when you start spending more money inevitably.
Some of the cheaper Sonys 'might' be in your budget and are always good, otherwise Panasonic and Samsung make pretty good budget screens. Have a look at LG too, most TVs these days use an LG panel.

Sony for me.

We had a 28" CRT, only got rid as we upgraded to HD, absolutely nothing wrong with it but no one wanted it, lol it was a bit of an anchor. The 32" replacement cost £300 on offer and I cannot fault it especially at the price. I'm sure the techno experts would find something wrong with it, but if its just something that shows a reasonabe picture, i'd buy another any day at that price. Sony won't let you down. we had a Panasonic and that went pop, an LG and the picture shrunk to a dot in the middle of the screen and the LG ended up as a narrow band verticaly across the screen. we've had the sony's for longer than all the others put together.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Cheers guys. I've got a samsung in the front room already and have liked it. Also got a smaller sony bravia which has been pretty impressive. My cousin was a buyer for comet back in the day and rated the LG units.

Budget wise, i'm looking at sub £250 which will get me budget samsung and sony by the look of it.

We have a 32 inch panasonic that has had the ritual abuse kids give it, the screen has been slapped more times than Jenna jamesons arse and it must be 7 0r 8 years old now but is still fantastic. mind you it cost 700 quid but that was back when they were more expensive!

Panasonic or loewe for price quality. .. bose for bragging rights....

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

You'd be hard pushed to find a Loewe for anything like that price.

And if I had Bose equipment, I'd sell it quickly before anyone found out *wink*
