Hi there, been rummaging around in my garage and came across a box full of distributors all used, that I had off an old guy when he was packing up his garage business. It has a tag on it saying metro on it.

Now, ive nailed it down to 65dm4 electronic dizzy, partno, 42681a. But thats as much as I can find on the googles.

It has a large vacuum advance capsule on it, as in theres atleast a cm of dish after the seam where its pressed pressed together.

Does this mean that this is Boost sensitive, as in retards the ignition system or is this just normal design for this dizzy.

Thanks nath

The metro turbo dizzy does not retard with boost. It is about the best cheap profile you can get, but for the price these days it is silly not to put mapped ignition on there.

Wow, im suprised it doesn't retard under boost. Does it just run a normal advance curve? Also does that mean you can only run standard boost with it too?

It runs an advance curve designed for the metro turbo, hence it is a specific metro turbo distributor.

Boost capsules were generally a retrofit for cars that had dizzy curves never intended for boost in the first place.

Although given lower CR and relatively low boost pressure, there probably isnt a huge difference over a n/a setup anyway.

But as said, mapped ignition is very cheap these days, and ultimately better all round. There really isnt any reason to keep an old dizzy setup let alone want one, unless it was for purist appearance reasons.

Yeah I guess mapped ignition would be the way to go. Is there any teltales or a way to find out if this is a turbo dizzy? I take it itll have a bob weights in side it, will they have any markings turbo turbo specific?

its not really worth going dizzy. dizzy then mj is going to cost more in the long run, 2 trips to the rollers to get it tuned, having to buy the ignition stuff twice over (dizzy then mj). I went mj straight off, saved a lot of money, time, hassle
