So I think I already know the answer to this but has anyone here ran Omegas short crown pistons in a turbo engine?

Because I'm using an 84MM crank I need to have a shorter piston or machine a standard piston down to stop it from sticking going the top of the block. The short height pistons and 1/4" shorter than standard and could also help with compression ratio as they'd be lower in the bore.

Wolfie may have, I seem to remember he run a long stroke crank.

short crown pistons are a good idea, as they put the pin nearer the top of the piston so are more stable in the bore,

running the pistons down the bore to lower the compression isnt somthing I would do, it kills the squish, which is important for part throttle crusing.

Joe, do you have a photo of your tool?

Kean ran the short height forged omega's down the bore in his. Had it in my car for a while and didn't find it any different to my own engine albeit a little slower :p

Bit out my leage here... but on the 2 stroke race bikes we used to make the piston head come e tadd out ( 2 a 3 mm) the bore and machined the head so it would fit in them... of course no valves in those heads... raced compression really high tho... but for an na mini engine ... would it work?

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

this has been done, especially on small bores,

1/4 inch sounds a lot, sure your not looking at the special short?

Those are exactly the pistons I'm looking at.

I've been thinking about the short pistons as MED standard height pistons only have a 6cc dish and if I have to machine them down I'll end up with stuff all dish on them.

I think a dry build of the block may be in order so I can figure out the compression height and ratio.

i thought there is an intermediate height piston.the special short ones are intended for 6 inch rods.
