OK, I'm starting to work on the engine build for the metro. The head I've got has been converted for dry deck already. The question is;

a) pull out the bungs and blank off the outlet and go back to standard

b) convert the block and go dry deck

your thoughts?

or run a semi dry deck, get the advantage of the cooling and knowing if your head gasket fails.

Not difficult to convert the block. Or like Lee says 50/50 would work.

As above, plugging the block is easy. I'd take advantage of the already converted head.

No need to touch the block as the holes in the head are already plugged. Just fit the output bit to the block and you are away.

That isn't a true dry deck then though Andy. You get the cooling benefits (if there are any) but you still muck up your oil if the head gasket goes.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Cheers guys. So as i see it, if i don't bung up the block, the risk is that if i blow the gasket, the risk is i get oil in water.

If that is the case, all i really need is the output for the block and get the hose

agree although you dont need to plug the block just add the water port and run it as it is and still get all the benefits you would just have to drop the water if you want to swap head gaskets

right, got the block converted.

now proposed spec of the engine;

phase 2 cam
fettled head with CR of 8.5:1
forged pistons
SC box and drops
T3 turbo (for now)
megajolt blah blah
intercooler yet to be decided

big question is, what colour to paint the head??




next big question
