The steering rack on Shauna's mini has developed play on the passenger side since putting it on the road, and hearing loads of bad things about refurb racks, is it best to buy a new one? Or are these pretty poor in construction? And if there are good refurb racks to be had, where are they found?

Thanks chaps.

I've killed a minispares recon in 5000 miles that was fitted in 2007.

I shall be fitting a 16000 mile one from an original car.

Edit: I know my car gets stick but I would have expected more than it has managed.

I've heard or experienced nothing but bad things about recon stuff. If its not too much of a cost difference, i'd use new

It's not really about the cost but buying a new means we will have a spare between us. Thanks guysssssss.

There's no point buying anything in the sale because the postage outweighs the saving, It's cheaper for us to go pick one up and pay full price. I was about to buy some seats yesterday but the postage took up the saving. Thanks anyway.

Recon racks (from Unipart or wherever) seem to last about 2 years.
The new rack we put on Tigger is still going strong, long after a recon one would have given up.

Filling them with oil instead of relying on the poor grease helps as well.

But you can order on line and pay, then collect in store.

Ah! No, then you're probably in the small group of people that can't get any benefit.
