I have some signet tools, sockets sets and spanners, they all seem good quality and have lasted well

For ratchets and sockets then as Rob says. But I've never broken a extension bar so really any brand that fits your budget.

Maybe I should of put more info in my first post,

Halfords don't sell one long enough and as much as I don't mind paying for snap on, but this will be one of them things that will only be used 3 or 4 times on the refit / removal of my engine.

Use the search function before buying stuff from me...

stoke on trent

Iv got some bergen kit at work, alongside a comprehensive snap on kit and its never let me down even with impact use on the mg325 wouldnt hesitate buying it, signet is overpriced halfords kit really.
And as said some s/h bargains to be had with snap on if your gona use it enough.

I would say go for Signet, have a few of their tools and can't fault them.

The only seller I've seen selling Bergen was a shifty guy at in an Isuzu using bin-liners as window tints!

I love my Signet gear, I've had a full set of their 3/8" extensions for a few years and haven't had an issue with them yet.

The longest one on my set is 24" and undoes very tight stuff with minimal flex. I've also got a shorter one that locks onto the socket to save if from getting stuck on a nut.

I have found a Teng tools one, so I went with that as most of the stuff I have had from them has been good.

I was videoing a friend undoing the mainshaft nut in his gearbox the other week, using my trusty old breaker bar when the end of the extension bar sheared clean off.
It was one of the exteeeeeeeemely tight nuts, and he was having a little bounce on the bar but I know I've given it more grief than that in the past.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

If it was 1/2" drive then I am not suprised, 3/4" would be more suitable.

Maybe I have never broken one as I always use the larger sizes where appropriate.
