I worked on a tdi300 engine , its been running around 30 psi on its stock t25 for 2 years now , with a huge intercooler , in cold weather it wheelspins all 4 wheels in the dry coming out of roundabouts.

for those with a poor opinion of the t25 upper boost capabilities ,the difference between 25 and 30 psi is very noticeable..;-0

My experience was markedly different. The engine would make more boost, but just skyrocketed the EGT's and the performance increase for the increases in boost over 15psi was not proportional. Very reminiscent of wringing the neck of a stock metro turbocharger.
This was a defender sourced tdi however - but I believed the turbos to be the same?

Is the spinning all 4 wheels in the dry a joke?

The exhaust manifold is the difference between the defender and discovery tdi's on the Defenders the turbo is Perched rather awkwardly on top of the manifold.
on the discovery its slung in the usual underhand way and is supposed to give a few more hp as standard.

Guessworks - Arghhh the colour coded turquoise bumpers......Very pleased with my box btw Thanks. *Jester*

That was only the 200tdi - the defender kept the high-mount location the same as the 19J - for reasons I don't really know, but assume it was for parts commonality on the older diesel turbo. For the 300tdi - both engines had the same layout.

i run a 300tdi defender with a replacement discovery engine no egr and a derv pump tweek

shocks a few folk as i drive it like i jut nicked it !

and i love the fact its pretty indestructible/ disposable i dropped some scrap off and slipped unloading it some minor battle scars

parked it up at a mates house on the front another mate pulled up showing off a bit in a transit foot slipped off the brake ....... written off transit ...... not a scratch on the defender (no exaggeration ) i just had to adjust the handbrake

but it has had a new rear cross member by black sheep in 6mm folded steel !

looks like a good find. I had a tdi300 for 18 years, i just couldn't kill it. Some of the plastic items weren't great in the end and there was some trickery in the electrics at times but in terms of good solid dependable vehicle that could tow (albeit slowly) it was terrific. I had just decided to keep it until she was twenty when someone T boned it. Each major service gets more interesting ...as it is worth relatively little to anyone else , so you have to scratch the head when 4 new tyres are worth more than the car as a total.... Good luck
