Dear all, I've been looking on the forum for a while but need to move my ever evolving project onwards.
I live in Cheshire and I've got a Modified Morris Minor rally car which needs a bit of final tweaking. I'm 6 foot 6 and don't fit in a mini...Iif you want to see a photo of my car it's on this French rally web site.
http://www.15-50ac.org/
I've just come back from 2600 miles round trip in 8 days to Monte Carlo via the Col De Turini which was fantastic.

It's got a 1330cc midget engine, Cooper S big valve head, twin Su's 21253 pistons, kent 256 cam for driveability.
I had a custom new dizzy made by H&H distributers but it did not work well for me.
Went to see MiniSport at Padiham and had 86BHP on the rollers.

I'm thinking of going to Megajolt in the short term and will be building a new engine for the car.
new engine specification:
1293 midget engine
forged 16cc pistons
head unknown (will probably be calling a bloke in Huddesfield...)
brand new BMW mini supercharger which is sitting on a shelf in my garage
Weber 28/36 DCD manifold with home made adapter flange to mount the supercharger. when you look at it I think it will be a good bet.
drive belt pulley: I'm currently researching the Australian Hi-flow.com unit which is steel rather than the UK made alloy versions which I'm not keen on.
Mega jolt or maybe mega squirt as well...
looking for 100 BHP but more importantly 100ftLbs + Torque.
Lexus Is 200 6 speed gearbox to take the power. I'm nearly ready to install the box after months of working on the conversion.

Hopefully you'll not mind some daft bloke with a Morris Minor joining you.
any comments and suggestions welcome...
David

Hello and welcome.

If you do go supercharged I can recommend the re13t cam at 112. Presuming the engine takes an aseries cam?

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Thanks Graham,
looks like you're in the correct County. I was in the Brewery Tap on Lower Bridge Street in Chester on Thursday evening.

How do. Plenty of top head fetlers on here, plus a few good heads in the for sale section (mine included).

welcome to TM

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Nice to hear about another RWD, too !

Would love to see some details on the gearbox conversion.

I did a Series 3 gearbox conversion but it got binned as I changed direction (again)

If using the typical suck through configuration I would also add some water injection.

100 bhp at the fly is achievable with a larger bore depending on head and boost , etc

The alloy pulleys do wear out, I have used the med version this time but you came just change the belt section in the future.

Previously I used a std large bore damper that had belt groves machined into it.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Pity your bollocks are in line with the flywheel!

WHat BMW charger have you got?

Later type are teflon coated so better protection and ive heard they produce more "power"

Dear all, thanks for the welcome. it's a 4th generation, seems to have Teflon rotors, delivery mileage only. I'll find some photos of the car and post them as well as pictures of the Lexus box conversion. back very soon...

This is a good setup to copy...

although rocker cover access could be a problem.

its blow through so much better in terms of rotor longgevity, and you can easily intercool it too, looks like a reno5 intercooler on this one.

Thanks for the comments all. I saw the white Morris a long time ago and wanted to keep the supercharger lower for centre of gravity. I have a Metro Turbo carb and was wondering about that, or looking at a throttle body on an MG inlet for Megasquirt or similar. I have a Montego Turbo intercooler which is very similar to the Renault 5 unit.
I have an Arden Port head in the garage but it has 9cc chambers so that is not going to happen... I wonder if anyone has thoughts about using the mini MPI pulley?

Hi, just joined this forum too, I'm doing exactly the same thing as this. I have a 56 split screen that has a Suzuki 1000 engine in I did a few years ago cos I get 42 mpg out of it. Bored dead of it now so going supercharged a series. Pick up my prepped engine on Saturday. First port of call, get a a+ from a maestro it has a massive oil seal on the back cos it was retro fitted to vw gearbox. Southam mini centre do a conversion because you need it whittled and fettled and custom flywheel, along with sump, backplate off the morris. I'm sticking it through kitcar builders favourite gearbox - ford type 9 then got a mk2 escort rear axle to get better diff ratio, better wheels possible discs on the back if I think I need them and you eliminate the morris minor half shafts, which I'm pretty sure I've eaten cheese that was harder. I'm aiming for around 120bhp which should be about 150 bhs per ton. I intend it for a fast daily drive. And that's blown through a large capacity renault 5 gt Ali intercooler and put through a metro turbo carb.

I half know what I'm talking about but have several automotive engineering mates who I'm gonna bounce things off when I hit any walls.

I,m still interested in any info on the Lexus gearbox conversion. I have just finished the odd bits to fit a Toyota gearbox in to an A30 (thanks for the steer on that one Andy)

Resident Cylinder Head Modifier

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

done a few turbo engines for moggies, its the way to go rather than supercharging IMO as supercharging is fixed and will get boring as before after a few weeks months or so

hope your going to uprate those stone age brakes ...........that would be first on my list

i think Steve is right, unless it ends up making some radicals torque curve that melts tires on demand

think if i was doing a blown engine id go for low cr with the charger over driven to deliver boost just off idle of course that makes it inefficient more heat than anything so would require a dam good inter cooler/water injection

id think you could getaway with low comp high boost running a charger as compared with turbos? for lag/bottom end factor that is

the V8 engines seem to manage no ic going air cleaner, blower, carb, manifold ?

so perhaps its worth finding out what cr and boost those guys use? think the carb drops the temps a lot?
