Hi again I currently have a few spare engines around and a supercharger so am going to supercharge the 850 , it has a low cr from std about 8.3-1 ? How much boost is ideal. :). Not to bothered if it lasts 5 mins |

None. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

anything above 10-12 psi is a waste of time with a suck through is a waste of time.
I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

What's the cam profile on an 850? Might be worth changing it for a 1275 of 998 standard one.

I had one on a standard 998... was a bit overkill you can do anything if you set your mind to it...

It worked well on my 998 when I first put the charger on.. I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

with about 6 psi you'll up the wheezy asthmatic 850 from its 38 or so horses to maybe 40 at a push, with 10-12 psi you might crack 50hp.

Give it a go, a lot will depend on if the engine is ok to begin with and how you drive it. My 998 was build in 69 and I charged it for 5 years before deciding I would like to have a go at building an engine.. But that was for the experience of building my own rather than my other one being knackered.. I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I'm guessing you don't want to touch the bottom end, so will be sticking with the std cam, but be aware that the 850's don like hot cams and heavy valve springs as they don't have cam bearings. the 850 i stripped recently had cam bearings in it think the early ones didnt come with cam bearings don't hold me to it. |
