usually only use my cabinet for getting rid of rust and general snot but but going to do all the alloy bits, inlet manifold, thermostat housing, bell housing etc but not sure which media to use i.e sand, grit, glass beads. Does anyone else use a blast cabinet and if you do what do you se to clean aluminium stuff? Masturbation is not a crime its a hobby |

sand, you can get it from machine mart its not expensive

what is reccomended to blast the gearbox casing back to shiny aluminium?bead blasting? is the best way to stop it oxidising then to laquer it? On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

You could use kiln dried sand. Only kiln dried though as regular building sand is wet and clumpy and pretty useless for blasting. On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

I thought sand was a No No due to the silica dust getting in your lungs
