usually only use my cabinet for getting rid of rust and general snot but but going to do all the alloy bits, inlet manifold, thermostat housing, bell housing etc but not sure which media to use i.e sand, grit, glass beads. Does anyone else use a blast cabinet and if you do what do you se to clean aluminium stuff?

what is reccomended to blast the gearbox casing back to shiny aluminium?bead blasting? is the best way to stop it oxidising then to laquer it?

glass beads for ally, sand or the various oxide grits for steel, I did laquer mine .

You could use kiln dried sand. Only kiln dried though as regular building sand is wet and clumpy and pretty useless for blasting.

I thought sand was a No No due to the silica dust getting in your lungs

I've got a blast cabinet so thats not a problem. I'm bone idle and dont like wire brushing and sanding so a sand blasting cabinet is a god send
