When I got one, I was actually working on cars, but literally make yourself up an invoice and go in with that!
(although we had a legit invoice, it wouldn't be hard to make your own and get a trade card based on how easy it was for us)

I managed to get a trade card just by showing my pay slip with the companies name on it, even though I was nothing to do with the side of the company that would need the tools/ parts.
