Someone in work has just told me their brother got a £100 fine for doing 31mph in a 30. Apparently they don't give the 10% allowance plus 3 or whatever anymore? Is this true?

Or if its the first offence there is a course you can go on it costs more than the fine but you dont get the points
You wouldnt usually get done for 31 in a 30 though
That said it does happen my dad got done for doing 52 in a 50

I got pulled for 33 in a 30 the other day, speedo was saying I was doing 25, I was poodeling and know I was under 30, utter bs if you ask me.

Alot of coppers are lovely place people who will give you the time of day if you talk to them politely and as a human, some are jumped up cocks

have a look at the offical site on their it says there is a 10% +2 mph as standard but this can be changed by the on duty officer and you can be charged for doing 31 in a 30 il try find the linc, i only know as i thought i got done

I used to be a copper and I can tell you Paul r is right if it got taken to court it would be laughed out . Plus if its with a speed gun they need to be calibrated to 100m before every use and that needs to be recorded . It never gets done !

I would seriously fill in the ticket stating the objection and go to court , I am positive it won't get that far as the copper has to respond with either going to court or letting him off and let's face it no copper is going to spend 3 hours preparing his statements etc and then stand up in court and justify 1mph over .

Sometimes it also depends on the attitude of the person being stopped towards the officer who stopped them...

Ah so there's nothing new about them not giving any tolerance, just the fine going up. I was worried because my speedo is pretty shakey and inaccurate

Apparently if you are picked up on mobile cameras doing 'over the limit but not quite enough that we're going to fine you' they put markers on the car and once so many of these occurrences happen, they may issue a fine for a very small excess speed. Can't remember where i heard that though!

I guess it also depends on the situation , and how the driver / officer reacts .

if he was doing 31 past a school at 3:30 reving the tits off the car it could be just ?
