Hi folks

Im just getting ready to plug the holes in my Block and before i plunge the pillar drill into my block i want to be positive. I have the S/C build guide so know what i need blocked but it doesnt say any info about drilling and tapping (not sure it matters aslong as they are locked in tight)

Can i use the old head studs to block the existing head stud holes or just screw in some fresh 3/8 unc bar ? this would save having to drill and tap a bigger hole.

For the two oil ways roughly 7mm Diameter again would 3/8 unc be ok?

The Cam Follower holes are roughly 13mm, im assuming a 5/8 unc would be ok.

Im planning on doing the blocking of myself then when its done and it goes of to get skimmed get the shop to drill it as they will most likely have alot more experience and be alot more accurate than myself.

Lastly is there anything else i should know about plugging th block of, like how far to screw the bar into the block face?

Thanks

hi, have a look at my build. for the plugs you will need cast iron rod threaded to 3/8 unc, you can't use the head studs as the drill will slip. for the oil ways I went to the local plumbers and got some 1/8th brass studs. however if I was doing it again, I would make the plugs bigger and drill right into them rather than half the stud and half the block. Use plenty of locktite. hope that helps. also buy some arp head studs. you will notice the difference when putting the head on.
